Provided technical support to the EDP audit staff in the areas of advanced technology, operating systems, telecommunications, distributed processing, the systems development life cycle and system development tools.  Worked with the national support center and other senior staff to develop and extend audit tools and procedures for large data centers.  Extended the Coopers & Lybrand data center audit approach to include cyclic procedural and systematic testing of major audit and security concern areas.  Developed reporting systems to test systematically the administration of the MVS based security systems using a variety of mainframe and microcomputer based tools.  Developed access path and resource based audit analysis approaches.  Applied traditional security and control procedures to the management of operating systems and telecommunications environments.  Developed compensating controls where applicable.  Used the Coopers & Lybrand developed system and application audit software where applicable.  Developed integrated testing facilities.  Reviewed and tested Disaster Recovery and Contingency plans.  The above work was performed for New England Telephone, Fidelity Investments, Millipore Corporation, Boston Edison, Centronix, Healthco, Digital Equipment Corporation, Cabot Corporation, Brown University, Arkwright Insurance and others.  The operating systems included IBM MVS, VM, DOS/VSE, System 38, HP 3000, VAX, and Stratus.  The telecommunications environments were Network Job Entry, Remote Job Entry, Bulk Data Transfer, Network Data Mover, NCP, VTAM, CICS, RSCS, DECNET, GEIS, TYMNET, SBC, terminal emulation and file transfer.  Developed a securities analysis system in PC/FOCUS, Lotus 123, Direct Access, Batch files, 9 Track Tape and "C".  Developed mainframe, minicomputer and PC file downloading & conversion procedures for many clients.
